Hurricane Maria’s impact on Puerto Rico points towards an all too common threat on the island: a devastating capitalistic-racist system that moves at its convenience, leaving many innocent lives behind. In LANDFALLthe actual fear of a shaky soil ready to fall on its cities takes multiple meanings. At times there may be cryptocurrency evangelists parachuting into the island with the ambition to profit from the catastrophe, other times it may be devastating austerity measures by the government. In the midst of this, the common denominators are young activists, farmers, and community-based relief efforts put forth with an electrifying energy.
